21 December 2011 Online game used to source contestants for the TV show attracts over 110, 000 competitors Scottish hopeful notches up over 500 games in just one week Show to air for six consecutive nights from January 2nd on Channel 4 The online game used to source contestants for The Bank Job, a week-long live TV event airing on Channel 4 from January 2nd, has now been played over 2 million times since launching early this month. The incredible success of the game, in which players enter a digital bank vault and compete against each other to open safety deposit boxes by answering general knowledge questions, has exceeded all expectations by the channel and the show's producers, Remarkable Television (an Endemol company). The game has been played by over 110, 000 people across the UK, who are striving to unlock an application form and take part in the live TV show, which will be filmed in a real bank vault and hosted by George Lamb. Airing for six nights on Channel 4 from January 2nd, the show gives players the chance to pull off the ultimate heist and walk away with a life-changing sum of money.

Series two will air in February, but this time, players will have to win three tournaments, rather than two, in order to unlock the application form. Charlie Cox is DMGT's representative on the ITN Board. Charlie has been a senior media executive in the UK and internationally for more than 30 years. His current role is as an advisor to DMG. He has more than 25 years of involvement with the DMGT group, as an executive and consultant, in sectors including print, digital publishing and broadcasting. Most recently Charlie was CEO of Metro, and previously led the restructure of the US digital publisher Elite Daily after it was acquired by DMG media. Starting his career in Australia as a journalist in Sydney, he advanced quickly to become manager of Sydney's leading radio news station – 2GB – in parallel with his role as National News Director of the Fairfax owned Macquarie Radio Network. Charlie was invited to take over London radio company LBC in 1990. He relaunched its radio stations, returning them to profitability. A major shareholder of LBC was Associated Newspapers, which Charlie joined in 1993 to establish a broadcasting arm of DMGT.

The Executive Producers are David Flynn and Tom Blakeson and the Series Producer is James Fox. The Bank Job was commissioned for Channel 4 by Commissioning Editor Madeleine Knight and Justin Gorman with the online game commissioned by Jody Smith. The online head-to-head game was built by Chunk Games. The Play Along game has been in developed by Monterosa. Both online games have been developed in association with Endemol for Channel 4. The online game is available to play any time but players must win two games during an online tournament to become an Elite Player which will allow them the chance to unlock the application form and enter a prize draw to win £10, 000. Tournaments take place at various times during the day - to find out when players must follow The Bank Job Facebook and Twitter. The online tournaments will run during the early episodes of the live TV shows so players could find themselves competing for real, live on Channel 4, just days later. As players compete online they will build a personal profile which reflects their game play performance and their player type.
